1. Interacting drug usually can be used together

- Combination therapy is effective commonly but precautions should be taken by the
pharmacist or physician. Mostly monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) with
Tricyclic antidepressants are prohibited for combination therapy.

2. Beneficial interactions

- In this case namely action of Second drug enhances the effectiveness and safety so
not harmful. E.g. Probenecid to activates or rises the level of aspirin. Therefore Probenecid also reduces toxicity to cidofovir so infusion of cidofovir should be

- Aspirin enhance warfarin anticoagulant activity. So using both may not have
problem but acetaminophen is better instead of aspirin. Acetaminophen is likely to
work without affecting the warfarin action.
