EMA: Approved on the market since June 2000, Insulin glargine 100 units/mL had received extension of dosage form to 300 units/mL by SANOFI

Type1 Diabetic: A transition without barrier for Insulun Garline 300 units/mL injection administration.

Toujeo ® is an insulin glargine injection long term use of 300 UI/mL ongoing of type 1 diabetic. Toujeo ®  is not recommended for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidos unless with combination with other antidiabetics.

Remark: Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA): ketoacidosis is an alternative metabolic pathway, normally used in starvation states; it is far less efficient and produces acetone as a byproduct. In acute diabetic ketosis, there is excessive glucose, but because of lack of insulin, this can’t be taken up into cells to be metabolized, so pushing the body into starvation-like state where ketoacidosis is the only mechanism of energy production. The combination of severe acidosis and hyperglycaemia can be deadly, so need treatment after early recognition. Gradual drowsiness, vomiting, and dehydration in type 1 diabetes (rarely in type 2).
