Alteration of excretion (Alteration of urinary pH)

1. Salicylate-acidifying and alkalinizing agents

- pH change affects weak acid and weak base drugs and urge the reabsorption
and excretion of drugs. Endorsed for acid drug which are nonionized form pass rapidly to the urine back to the blood and is stable at pH 6.5 without
interactions while pH 5.5 involves a risk of interactions meaning of ionized
form of acidic drugs. E.g. Salicylates in large dose is risky at pH 5.5 in
arthritis.

2. Amphetamines-alkalinizing agents

- pH value influence the half-life and toxicity, when pH of urine is alkaline
possible toxicity of quinidine spotted by high concentration when pH declined
showed excretion of quinidine. At pH 5 and 8 there is excretion of
troamphetamine at urinary when pH 8 excretion is at low percentag
