Poliomyelitis VS Rabies

Poliomyelitis: 
 Polio is a highly contagious picornavirus, through only a few patients develop any illness from the infection. Patient presents increased temperature, headache, vomiting, neck stiffness and unilateral tremor (involuntary vibration as from illness or fear). 

      Treatment:
a.       Vaccine with 2 month of age: Pediacel®

b.      Vaccine with 13-18 years: Revaxis®
c.       Vaccine with 3¼-5 years: Repevax® or Infanrix-IPV®



                                                                      Rabies: 
 Rabies is rhabdovirus spread by bites from an infected mammal (bats, dogs, cats, foxes, raccoons). There is slight risk from scratches, or licks to cuts, mouth or eyes. 
     
     Treatment: 
a.       Vaccines for all age groups: Imovax® rabies 150 IU/mL (2ml vial or 10ml vial)
